I’m Still Here

I am sure a few people have noticed my month-long absence from my blog here.  I can’t help but feel a twinge of guilt for succumbing to my laziness in this area.  When my blog-post creativity and ideas aren’t at its peak I tend to want to give up for a while.  Shame on me.  Though, I’ll try to get [...]

My Favorite Things: Week 1

Here are some of my favorite things as of recent I thought I’d share.  Often there’s a few subjects I only have a few sentences to say about, but not fit to devote to one entire post.  So why not throw together all those randomnesses of mine that I’ve enjoyed lately, all in one post?  The weather - I’ve already [...]

A Gift From Ohio

Thank you to our friends in Ohio for this beautiful Christmas arrangement!  It was so sweet of you!  My family and I have it on the counter near our kitchen (the photo does not do it justice).  It’s amazing the connections you can make through a blog.   We have been blessed by this family in so many ways, and are so [...]

Blowin’ Snow

This was Ryan helping Dad with last week’s snow.  This week’s snow was way more drastic!   Ha, talk about a LOT!  In some areas of our yard the snow was over Ryan’s head.  Hardly the work for that tiny snowblower.  And I heard we’re gonna get more… oh boy.

Let it snow, let it snow, let me bake!

It snowed!!  I woke up yesterday morning to the sounds of wind and snow blowing against my basement window, and looked out to find everything white, white, white! This weather always puts me in the baking mood, so I made a couple apple pies and my mom’s Whole Wheat Pumpin Chocolate Chip Muffins.  I couldn’t resist a small [...]

The Update Post

It’s been quiet around my blog here as you’ve probably noticed.  The start-up of school and new schedules has kept me busy, but then came the cold and flu season.  Yuck.   Kelly and I have within the last month come down with two different flu viruses, two bad colds and also pink eye (we’ve never had pink eye [...]

Prayer Request for Kristina

Update**  Thank you for all the prayers!  Kristina is home now and feeling well, though she does have to take it easy for a few days.  I will say, she misses being pampered at the hospital; the nurses and doctors were great and gave her lots of attention!  ———– If you could please pray… This morning [...]

Our Little Big Guy

Yep - here is our “little big guy”, who’s also a big Twins fan.  Here he is with his Joe Mauer Tee on and Twins hat.  Oh, and notice his puffy shoes?  They’re his baseball ”slippers” that we happened to get from a garage sale. By the way…  Today was Ryan’s last day of medication and he is doing great!  (Again, thank [...]

Ryan’s Pneumonia: Full update

Here is a full update on Ryan’s pneumonia in detail from my post yesterday.   With yesterday’s morning visit to the doctor, they confirmed pneumonia by what they heard in Ryan’s chest though no other tests were done.   When we got home and as the day went on, Ryan continued to go down hill with high fevers, rapid breathing, extreme pain [...]

Prayer Request

Hello Dear Readers! I have a prayer request – Early this morning my younger brother, Ryan, woke up with a really high fever and chest pain.  We got him to a doctor, and it turns out he’s got pneumonia which evolved from the cold he’s had.  He’s on medication right now but still has major pain in his [...]

Wordless Wednesday: Fast Asleep

Guess Who’s 9 Already…

…Kristina Joy! (Above: the pic I took of us yesterday on the day she turned 9. And… did you notice her pierced ears?  She’s been wanting her ears pierced for months, and Mom and Dad finally surprised her with the option to do so yesterday.  They said she was braver than me when I got mine done at age [...]

Congratulations Ryan!

Last evening, Ryan entered his Cub Scout camping theme cake (they got to choose a theme) for the 100 year Scouting birthday competition.  He and my dad made it themselves the day before, and I think it turned out great!  They used two chocolate Poptarts and stick pretzels for the tent, two long pretzels and ice cream cones covered [...]

A Peek into the Past…

Just the other day, my mom picked up some frames for some family wedding photos we have.  The following you will see are four generations of weddings from my mom’s side, starting with my great, great grandparents and leading up to my own parents…  Above are my great, great grandparents, Constantine and Justina.  Married October 22, 1913.  [...]

20 Years Together: Then and Now

My parents celebrated their 20th year anniversary in October.  This first picture was taken back in 1989, the year they got married.  The second picture was taken exactly 20 years later… (Above) My dad looks really young here, but is actually two years older than my mom. The Lord God said, “It is not good [...]

A Thanksgiving Picture

We celebrated Thanksgiving at my grandparents house, with aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, great aunts and uncles and great grandma.  We had a wonderful time with family!  Here is a picture of us with our grandparents (above).

Christmas Traditions

Just like last year, my family and I are participating in the Proclamation Ornaments devotional this year.  It’s a wonderful little tradition to celebrate Christmas in a deeper, and more spiritual way – keeping CHRIST our main focus. The box contains the Proclamation Ornament devotional booklet, along with 25 ornaments for each day of December leading up to [...]
