About Me

Hi, I’m Kira (pronounced: keera).  I am 17 years old and TheMissionOfAChristian.com is my blog.  Let me tell you more about myself.

First and foremost, I am a sinner saved solely by the grace of God, and a Believer in my Lord Jesus Christ.  It was during a Good Friday service back when I was seven years old, when the reality of what Christ did for me really sunk in.  It was then when I really saw myself as lost and in need of a Savior.  I repented of my sins and from then on I was never the same.  God had saved me, and I was a new creature in Christ.  Shortly after that time my eyes were opened to the many unsaved people in this world, and my main passion became set on missions.  I eagerly read any missionary book I could get my hands on, and I told myself that I too wanted to be a missionary when I grew up.  Even then I was hosting little “Bible studies” with my little friends in the neighborhood, and typing up my own tracts (though, I never got around to sending any out).

Since then I have strived to live my life to glorify Him, and that is the mission of my life as a Christian.  I hope to make the most out of what God has put in my path, and put to good use each day that God has blessed me with.  I don’t believe in wasting away my teen years, but instead using them to grow in Him and bless those around me.  I want to spend my days in productivity, with learning all I can so as to be prepared with whatever God has in store for me.  I do hope to one day be a Godly wife and mother, Lord willing, and raise up children of my own and homeschool them just as I am.  I believe a woman’s divine calling is to raise up the next generation in the Lord, and my goal and role model is the Proverbs 31 Woman of the Bible and I seek to exemplify her.  I desire to learn all I can in the area of homemaking and I love learning from the examples of other Godly women around me (many are fellow bloggers).

I live with my two God-fearing parents, my 3 younger siblings and our little 3 year old Shih Tzu, Myah (visit my family page). My parents have always homeschooled us kids and plan to continue through highschool.  I love being homeschooled, and wish to stay under their authority and learn all I can from them until I have a home of my own.  I love my family so much and am extremely blessed that God has put them into my life. I have a very close relationship with my family, and I love knowing that I can come to my parents with anything.  I especially enjoy discussing various theological subjects with my family, as well as why we believe what we believe.  One of my favorite Bible verses is 1 Peter 3:15,16 “always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” I want to be prepared as much as I can so that I can (hopefully!) be helpful in answering  anyone if they were to ask anything in relation to my faith or Scripture.

Are you interested in hearing some interests of mine?  First off on the top of the list would be… Reading.  I LOVE reading.  I can’t imagine life without books.  In fact, when I walk into someone’s home, I find my eyes gravitate to the books that they have whether it be their bookshelves or the stack on a coffee table.  Rooms just seem empty to me without the presence of books.  It may sound weird but that’s just me. If you wanna see some of my favorite books click to go to this page here.

Next on my list would be cleaning and organizing.  You will never fully understand that about me unless you enter the brain of a cleaning-organizing-fanatic-teenager, I’m sure.  Cleaning and organzing are actually real enjoyable to me, and are practically my default options.  The perfectionist self in me probably plays a role in this too!

Other loves of mine include decorating and decorating books, romantic vintage style, playing the piano, cooking, baking, action/suspense movies and the old classics, knitting, crocheting, thrift store shopping, bargain hunting, hand-written letters, summer dresses, playing with my dog,  journaling, making lists, trying to sew on my sewing machine, playing chess, babysitting, Jane Austin movies, hanging out with family, coupon hunting and clipping, grocery shopping, getting freebies in the mail, the “pull and peel kind” of Licorice, Diet Dr. Pepper, fast-pace walks with my mom, doing crafts with my two younger siblings, making bread, cleaning/organizing tips, rainy days, oh, and thunderstorms – I love thunderstorms, but, not the damaging kind.

Hm, now with the things I don’t  like… some main ones would include roller-coasters, bees – completely terrified!, heights, having long ”chit-chatty” conversations on the phone (I’d rather say what I need to say and then end it – respectfully of course), public speaking, my fears and anxiety (as I can be such a worrier with things) - it has been a struggle, but I have seen God at work and am growing in many ways through it.

Okay, are you interested in hearing more?  It might potentially scare you… just kidding.  But if you have any other questions whether it be of myself or my beliefs, feel free to ask in a comment.  :)

I think we are alike in many ways…it’s always so nice to find people who are homeschooled like you are…believe in the same God, share the same interests…know what I mean?
