On the 6th day of Christmas……. Sugar Cookies! A yearly favorite!
I do have to say, I am late in posting this. I made these a couple days ago, and forgot to post them then. Sooo…. they are now being moved to day six of my 12 days of Christmas baking.
Kristina and Ryan got to do the decorating…

Day 6: Sugar Cookies – My Grandma’s recipe that is always a hit!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp. vanilla
- 4 cups white flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
1. Cream together butter and shortening. Mix in sugars, along with eggs and vanilla.
2. In a separate container, combine dry ingredients. Then slowly add to wet mixture.
3. Roll dough into ball. Cover in Saran wrap. Chill up to an hour.
4. Roll out on parchment paper with flour. Cut out with cookie cutters, then decorate if desired.
5. Bake 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes per batch.
Oh, and yes, we did use white flour. We had to fight for this one. Sorry, Mom. :) My dad did the final convincing by saying that “you can’t have a really good sugar cookie with whole wheat flour.” (Mom will prove him wrong I’m sure.)
I hope you all are enjoying this winter season!

Your cookies look great Kira. I’m with you…even though I use wholemeal where ever possible some things just aren’t the same without white flour.
Where I live in Queensland Australia it is hot and humid but my husband still thinks that it isn’t Christmas with out hot Christmas pudding for Christmas lunch so I had to get to and make one the other day (I made it gluten free so our son could enjoy it as well).
God bless you and continue to enjoy your preparations for Christmas

looks delicious, though I’m not a big fan of sugar cookies. Too sweet, even for my sweet tooth!
