On the 5th day of Christmas……. Mini Chocolate Delights!

Oh. my. goodness. people. You are now looking at your new favorite dessert. I whipped them up this evening and my whole family thought they were fabulous! These balls have a yummy cakey center, and a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate shell that will not let you down! But beware…my mom says they’re dangerous to keep in the house, for once you have one, it’s hard to keep your hands off!
This recipe was found at www.bakerella.com, originally called Red Velvet Cake Balls, but I made some changes. So… here is my altered recipe – with a changed name!
Day 5: Mini Chocolate Delights
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (bake as directed on box for 13 X 9 cake)
- 1 package cream cheese, thawed
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup vanilla frosting (I only added this to make it creamier)
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 package chocolate almond bark
1. After cake is baked and cooled completely, crumble into large bowl.
2. Combine in separate container: cream cheese, powdered sugar, frosting, and almond extract. Mix in with crumbled cake.
3. Roll mixture into quarter size balls and lay on cookie sheet. (Should make 45 – 50). Then chill (an hour is fine).
4. Melt chocolate in microwave per directions on package.
5. Roll balls in chocolate and lay on wax paper till firm. (Use a spoon to dip and roll in chocolate and then tap off extra.) You will want to work quickly while the chocolate is still warm, for it will start to thicken and harden as it cools.
And… there you have it! A dessert that will leave your family begging for more! I know mine was.

Those look delicious!
Hmmmmm…. Those look like some really expensive chocolates that you’d buy at some fancy store! They’re so pretty (and I’m sure they’re as good as they look)!!!
