Who Gets the Glory?

Receive the Glory

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not to us, but to Your name alone
Be all the glory, the glory, forever
For Your faithfulness and steadfast love
Receive the glory, the glory belongs to You
All that we’ve accomplished You have done for us
And any fruit we harvest is a gift from Your hand
We are only jars of clay that hold a priceless treasure
And we exist to bring You pleasure, O God
Only by Your mercy can we come to You
Though we deserved Your judgment You have called us by name
So we glory in the cross of Christ that made us Yours forever
That joined our lives together to sing
This song makes me think of the book, Fool Moon Rising.  This recently published book was written and illustrated by some friends of ours.  There is page after page of humorous and outstanding illustrations combined with a terrific message that I highly recommend!
The story begins with a prideful moon, who, in his pride continually boasts of himself, claiming to be “the greatest light.”  Then later in the book, you see the conversion, where he realizes that it is not he who gives the light, but instead it is the sun!  You see how he then turns around, and instead gives credit to the SUN, as he realized that his light came from the sun.  The moon merely reflects it.
You see how in the same way, we as Christians can reflect Christ’s light and be a light for him.  It is in Him that we boast!  This story is a perfect example of that, and a wonderful teaching example for children.
“For who sees anything different in you?  What do you have that you did not receive?  If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?” ~ 1 Corinthians 4:7
Which brings me back to the song above:  All that we’ve accomplished God has done for us, and any fruit we harvest is a gift from His hand.
