Last Memories

Each and everyday we are making memories in our home.  The encouraging comment, the hug of appreciation, the time we spend to help and build each other up; those small acts of love will be forever remembered.   It is in these small ways we are making an impact –  especially in our family.   We have the power to help build wonderful and loving memories for those around us, or do just the opposite.

“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” ~ Luke 6:31

Are we obeying this command everyday?  Or do we brush off verses such as these and continue without the slightest concern about the way we are treating others?  Do you realize how short the time you have on this earth really is?Do you wake up in the morning and realize that this day may be your last?  Do you even understand that the memories of today could very well be the last ones others will remember you by?

If not your last, then what about living as though it were your family’s last?  Your friend’s last?  Even a stranger.  How heart-breaking would it be for you, if your last act, the last word you spoke to that person, especially a loved one was in anger, or perhaps even bitter silence?

“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.”  ~Ephesians 4:26

You later find out that a sudden death has taken that one, and you are left with a painful memory, or maybe sadly even other memories that you will live on to regret.  We will never know when it is our last meal together, our last talk, or even our last parting at the door, never to meet again.

What a motive this should be for us, to make our everyday encounters with love and kindness!

Examine your life.

Examine yourself.

God put you where you are for a reason.  Make the most out of the time that you have.
