Emotional Benefits from Exercise

Did you know that exercise, even just walking, can lessen stress and tension and improve self esteem?  Walking has not only been shown to rid anxiety, depression and the feelings of depression, but also give you higher feelings of overall well being.

See, when you exercise, your body releases a chemical called, dopamine.  It’s a natural chemical in your body that balances your mood and is responsible for the feelings of happiness.  Pretty cool, huh?  So, next time you’re feeling a bit down, try gettin’ out for a walk to boost your mood.  It’s most likely to help quite a bit!

Though, you don’t want to overly exercise or it will do just the apposite.  It is to be done in moderation if you want to attain a stable body and healthy immune system.

Just something interesting I thought I’d share with you all…

  1. Hello Kira!

Thanks so much for the sweet comment!:-)

Don’t feel bad – actually, your RSS feed probably wasn’t the entire problem…I’ve only posted once or so since last November!:-( I’ve been so busy, I just haven’t had time! I’ve also been going through a blogging “dryspell”, you know, where you get on to post and the words just won’t com. Lack of inspiration.:(

So now school is out…I’m officially a homeschool grad! (smiles proudly) Only college starts in two weeks, so I’ll be back in the “rat race” again.:-) I’m taking it pretty east this semester, though, so hopefully I won’t be too busy to lead a normal life:-).

As to your post – its very acurate, as I’ve found from experience. I’m by nature an extremely active person, but as I got older I’ve grown into the habit of generally spending all my free time on the internet. Don’t ask me how it happens – my mom always wonders WHAT I find to do on there that takes up so much time, and I can never quite tell her. As a result, I’ve grown quite lazy and actually more sluggish and indolent. I didn’t realize this, though, until a couple months ago I took it upon myself to take a brisk walk around the block each morning. It made an incredible difference! It gets the blood flowing to your brain, helping you to think clearly, you feel better, you feel happier just from the satisfaction that comes from self-discipline..the list goes on and on! Exercising counts!

Anyways, hope to be back here soon!:)
