It has been over a year now since I started flat ironing my hair. I’ve tried many straighteners, but none of them seemed to really work for me. The Sudio35, Vidal Sassoon Gold, Conair, and others (providing I got them at a very cheap price) either ripped my hair, made it frizz, or just didn’t fulfill it’s claims (at least not on me they didn’t). Talk about frustrating! And there was no way I was going to spend over $100 dollars on a flat iron either, even if it did really work. No way. Not happen’in.
So, is there a straightner that can satisfy my needs, under $30, and can get the job done quickly?
Well, I think I found it. The Remington flat iron S8000t. Not only does it enable me to get my hair straightened very quickly (considering I have pretty thick hair), accomplish it’s task of getting rid of the frizz, lock in shine and moisture, and NOT rip or strangle my hair…it’s price range runs from around $20.00 – $40.00! Pretty good if you ask me!
I definitely reccomend this one. I and my sister are sure happy with it! I can now say that my search for the perfect flat iron is now officially over! I am fully satisfied with my Remington. If you straighten your hair, this is definitely a must!
Now, just some advice here…flat irons can dry out your hair and extract the moisture you want. You also risk damaging your hair and frying the ends with too much flat ironing . That’s why it’s good to use a heat styling spray for protection. For me, I use Bumble and Bumble hair styling protucts before blow drying and straightening my hair.
One thing I also learned, is to never flat iron wet hair, no matter how much the packaging advertises it’s guaranty to dry and/or straighten hair while still wet – it just doesn’t work. Mostly because it ends up taking too long and makes it frizz (at least with the straighteners I and my sister have used). The best thing I’ve found, is to just let my hair air dry THEN flat iron it. Those are the days when my hair looks it’s best and keeps it’s shine.

- First photo: Air dryed, not flat ironed (yes, my hair gets pretty weird sometimes)
- Second and third photos: After exactly four minutes of flat ironing using my Remington Straightner.
(Sorry, those pictures are definitely not the best. That’s what happens when I try taking them myself
I look so weird)
Hopefully this post was of some help to you. If there are any “caring for hair tips” or flat ironing info you recomend and /or ideas, I would be most interested in hearing it!

That’s great! Yeah, I try not to straighten my hair TOO much ’cause it’s really fine and can get damaged pretty easily. But when I do, I make sure to use a hair moisturizer!!!
Thanks for the review!

Thank you so much for your comments! It was nice hearing from you. I don’t seem to have much time for commenting nowadays. But its nice to get a couple comments every now and then.
How have you been, Kira? I’ve been busy. Our doe just kidded on Saturday and had three beautiful kids. I think two are twins and one is a single. She had two placentas, so that’s how I figure it goes. One of the does is very pretty. She’ll be a good breeding doe.
Love,
Rachel
I’m sorry, I should have commented on the post too. I guess you get an extra comment.
I don’t use flatirons, or curling irons or anything. Give me a ponytail and maybe a clip and I’m good to go. I learned how to put my hair up in a messy bun like Amanda usually wears and then if that’s not it, my hair is in a ponytail or just down. I never was one to worry about my hair that way. I suppose that’s because I was always playing and never thought about what it looked like! LOL

Rachel
Hey Rachel,
Well, the busyness has died down over here for a while, so I’m trying to catch up in the blogging world a bit. I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed it
Yes, I heard! I saw the pictures of the does on your sister’s blog. So cute! I just want to cuddle them! I bet it’s so much fun raising goats…
Yeah, that’s something I want to learn how to do – to put my hair up in a messy bun. They look so pretty! Amanda really knows how to do them well.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment!

Its easy to do a messy bun. I was thinking of having Amanda do a tutorial on how to do some of her hairstyles… using her new video camera. I thought that would be fun. I’ll have to ask her again.
Yes, taking care of the goats is fun. I think the work is just a little thing compared to being able to see a new life come into the world. Keci (the doe who just kidded) was the first animal I saw born. She was the tiniest thing. I love having animals. Now to get a horse….
Love,
Rachel
Oh, that would be really neat! It would be great to learn more up-do’s, since I get kind of bored with my hair always down sometimes…I rarely put it up for some reason, maybe because the only thing I know is a ponytail
Yeah, having a horse would be so cool!

I think you look very nice with your hair down. It’s a very pretty colour, and that new photo makes your hair look very cute.
But I’ll see if I can talk her into it.
I have wanted a horse for a very long time. When Amanda got rid of Dulcy and Estrella, I was so sad we didn’t even get to ride them once.
Love,
Rachel
