I have been a christian all my life and this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. Twilight is not evil, it's a fantasy novel. Vampires and Werewolves do not exist. Get that through your head and stop making a big deal about it. It will not hurt your soul to read the books, it's all about how people take it in and if they know what they're reading. To "Heartbroken", I'm super sorry about what happened to your wife but it wasn't because of her reading a book. She had problems long before Twilight, especially if she thought it was real. You're right, there is no love like Edward's to Bella but God told us to love like Edward does, if you read on love in the bible, Edward Cullen portrays very close to it. God uses the word "coven" in the bible, look it up by the way. STOP saying "coven" is satanic cause it's not, it's how people use it. This article and Brio's article wants us to be the perfect the perfect Christians. News flash, we are humans too and to try to become completely perfect is insane. No, this novel is completely right, but there is no story book that is! Everything is gonna have bad in it, everything is gonna have sin in it because we as humans are sinners, even you "perfect christians". To outline and pin point every little thing in this novel that isn't christian is obsured. Oh yea and to people who refuse to read the books because of the "christian point of view", try thinking for yourselves. Twilight is FICTIONAL. Seriously, get over yourselves.

Thanks for the post, Kira! I havent read the books myself, but just looking at all the hype about them and what there about immediatly puts me on my guard, thanks so much for this post!
When you have the Lord in the center of your life you can immeditaly see the wrong in Twlight, yesI do think we go on about it a bit, but its just that we are trying to warn other Christians, i think if you dont agree with this, just read the comment by Heart Broken on this post.......... yes you can say you wont let it affect you to that extent, but were all sinful, its only helping your sin nature along. Being a Christian means serving God with everything within you, and leaving nothing for yourslef, its being obediant, and He has told us to stay away from the worlds idea of fun....
Blessings,
Meggie

Hi Kira,
First, I want to applaud your efforts to keep the Lord first in your life. I am a wife and mother and I used to read Brio as a teenager as well.
I found your blog while researching "Twilight". I have seen it several times, and many of my friends who are teenagers and many mothers asked me to write a paper on the positives and negatives on it with a Christian perspective. The replies from your post have really helped. :) Here are some of the things I have found in my research.
1. Bella's character is curious, vulnerable, needy and stubborn - she relates to her parents as "friends" not parents.(not biblical)
2. Edward lies to Bella more than 3 times through the first movie and many times in the second... is that the kind of guy you want?
3. The "Family" Dr. Cullen "created" is actually called a "Coven" a word derived from Wiccans - - it is satanism
4. Since Vampires are immortal( made into vampires by other vampites), it mocks the gift of eternal life offered to us through Jesus, God's own son and also creation.
5. In the bible, the centuries old ones were called "Demons". When Bella searches "Cold One" almost every entry she looks at also says "Demon".
6. check out these verses... Philipians 4:8, I Peter 5:8 and Deuteronomy 18:9-12

Hope this helps those who have seen these movies and are trying to figure out why they get a niggling feeling that things just dont line up.
God bless :)

I find these comments to be extremely biased. The brio articles not bad, just typical.
If everyone is against Twilight, then why not find a new book to read?
I have read the books, I have not watched New Moon, I did watch 5 minute spurts of twilight on an Ipod on the way up a mountain, but I don't think that it counts:)

So I've read all the books, and I admit that they did affect me. And I have seen how they have affected other people, but I do know this: That when young ladies feel that they have found a "model man (aka a real man)" They feel obsessed. So instead of telling them that it is wrong, sinfull, and demonistic, GIVE THEM AN ALTERNATIVE!!!
They're are better books about Manly Men. Look to the Bible Ya'll. Come on, love the women in your life by giving them better alternatives.
Try Bradley Hathaway Slam poems
- Manly Man & - The Hug Poem

Movie's -
- The Princess Bride
EXT.

Books -
The Squires Tale Series (By- Gerald Morris)
Surprised by Joy (By C.S. Lewis)

A little over one week ago my wife watched the twilight movie and become instantly obsessed. She immediately accused me of having an affair because I don't love here like Edward Cullen loved Bella. she said that she was empty inside, that our relationship was no longer fulfilling. She began fantasizing about Edward and looking at picture after picture of Robert Pattison on the internet. I believe that she had even been masturbating to these images and fantasies. It all started on a Friday...Monday as luck would have i was informed that within a short time i would be laid off from a job I loved. I needed my wife, but she was making love to Edward. I came home on Tuesday early and she barely spoke to me and faked a headache so that she could go to her room and read all night. Most nights shes in bed by 9:30... It is a struggle to get her to even stay up an extra hour with me some nights. But this night, she was up well past 11...but as my shock faded I realized she was holding the second book in the series in her hand... Thursday I wrote to her in an email and begged her to give me some emotional support.... I was hurting.. i needed her. Her idea of support was to sit down next to me with her head buried in her twilight book. i wanted to talk... she eventualy flipped out and stormed off to the room. I followed her... I tried to talk to her but she had her head buried in the third book. I got so furious that I tried to take it out of her hands. She physically punched and kicked me like an demon possesed animal. she calmed down, said she was sorry. I left the room. I sat down at the computer and much to my dismay more twighlight nonsense was on the screen and she had been looking at Robert Pattisons picture again. I became extremely hurt. All that i wanted was some support from my wife as i was at a low point and she didn't love me enough to give that to me. I went into the room and told her this. I accused her of being in love with a ficticous character and that is why she couldn't love me in my time of need. She would not deny it. I told her that If I looked at porn and then became unsatisfied with her body she would be hurt. She saw Edward and felt i didn't measure up so she gave her heart to him. We argued.. she said she wanted a divorce because she could not handle me telling her that she had to stop reading the books, that I was not her parent. Its now early Sunday morning... she kicked me out on Friday morning. I sit here on a floor in an old empty apartment that we use to live in with tears in my eyes. I have truly lost my wife... to a book about a teenage vampire.

I am a 58 year old mother of three and a grandmother of five. I have been saved most of my life, my children are all saved and work in the ministry for God. My children and their spouses and I went to see New Moon together and none of us back slid. We still love God , serve Him, work for Him, and always will. My daughter and I have read all the books. They are just fiction books. Why try to analize a fiction book or movie. Why make a big deal about it. There is no such thing as a vampire or warewolf, it's just fiction. The Twilight series is not a blood-soaked-romance as you state on this web page. Evidentially you haven't read the books or seen the movie. There is no majic, no sex before marriage, no blood sucking, no sorcery, and I didn't hear any fowl language. It's just a love story about two guys from different parts of life loving one girl and wanting the best for her.

hi kira
i just wanted to say i read these books and i think they are totally not satanic. i find the twilight saga to just be a love story and i dont see why some one would look so deep to think that a simple fantasy is satanic. i, myself enjoyed the book it did have edgy topics such as vampire and werewoles but i think we all know that they are based on fictional character. the one thing i disagree on is kissing which is a touchy matter because i have recently wanted to not kiss till the day that i say i do. i think kissing is something even christian tens find okay but anyways this isnt even a christian based book but i do thing some subjec as you mention in the last book breaking dawn arent suited for young children.
