You tell on yourself by the friends you seek,
By the very manner in which you speak,
By the way you employ your leisure time,
By the use you make of dollar and dime.You tell what you are by the things you wear,
By the spirit in which your burdens bear,
By the kind of things at which you laugh,
By the records you play on the phonograph.You tell what you are by the way you walk,
By the things of which you delight to talk,

I love this poem too, it is a very good one.
Thank you Kira,I had this poem in my collection,but have so many mementos saved that I haven’t located it again! I only had fragments committed to memory and hoped I could locate it via computer! I gave it to each of my children to read when they were growing up.The author has missed out on well deserved praise;IT IS MY ONLY HOPE THAT SOMEHOW HE OR SHE WILL GET THE RECOGNITION IN HEAVEN
