Feeling Feminine Challenge/ My Story

Miss Jocelyn recently posted another Feeling Feminine Challenge, and I started doing it yesterday.  Part of the challenge, is to write your story on how you realized to become modest:

Ever since my mom was saved when I was four years old, my mom started dressing me modestly.  Up until the age of eight, I was still wearing dresses and long skirts quite frequently.  After age eight, I pretty much wore dresses and skirts for church, but still dressed modestly every day.  And then around 7th grade at our old church, even though I didn’t go into the youth group, everyone youth group age abandoned the skirts and dresses, and started wearing jeans - and that’s when my insecurities set in, and I followed the crowd.  Although I was wearing pants to church, I was still dressing modestly.

This past year, my love for skirts has been rekindled.  Although they had been hard to find in the past, they seem to be much more available now.  I have come across some cute knee high and ankle skirts, casual and dressy, and wearing them to church.  Not only do I wear them to church, but I mix match them with my tops, and wear them as an everyday outfit.  I find that they are more comfy than pants, I stay cooler, and I can move around in them very easily.  I also find that I act, sit, and carry myself in a more “lady-like” fashion when I’m wearing skirts, and I get many comments on them too. :)  Other than those, I stick to capris, bermudas, and gauchos, and I haven’t worn shorts for the past couple years – they are just too short now a days!!  All my other clothes are pretty loose fitting – for I’m the “wear for comfort type person.”

I’m taking a picture each day of the skirt and top that I wear, and I’ll be putting a slide show of them next week.  It will be fun!

In Christ,

Kira

  1. Wow, that is a really neat story. I’m so glad your mom planted that seed of modest femininity in you, and though you swayed a little, you’re continuing to follow the Word in this area!

Thank you for joining us for the Challenge! I got your emails and I will be replying soon!

    Blessings!
    Miss Jocelyn

  2. Hi Kira,
That is a great story to tell! I like gauchos, but don’t have a pair.
I wear skirts all the time… except to bed. I can’t sleep in skirts.

Thanks for coming by! How did you find me? I see my link is in your Blog I Read roll… that is sweet!

Well I hope you will come by and I will stop by again sometime!

    Prayers and Blessings,
    Miss Amanda

  3. Hey Kira,

Thanks for stopping by. I loved your story and it is quite similar to mine in a sense. I do agree with you 100% that skirts are comfy, and very lady like.

Hope to hear from you again!
